On line it has a short human interest story. Usually less than 200 words in English and Chinese Hanzi (Tradional Characters) plus a survival phrase today's was :

Hey why didn't anyone comment on this?
I wasn't trying to read at the time but I found it now thanks to Mike.
A brilliant resource, you could study them but I am just going to spend 15mins or so banging my head against (with the aid of Dimsum) them a while (hopefully I wil slowly recognise more and more phrases and characters).
Come on you readers out there, wake up and smell the coffee.

This is from Yesterday's Taipei Times. It is their Beginner Level. They do a very nice job of re-using the words over many days.
The English and Hanzi is from them. What I do is first try to read the column in Hanzi and use a highlighter to mark the words I don't know. (I buy the paper) Then later in the day I copy and paste the English and Hanzi into Wenlin and attempt to write the pinyin. This really helps me confirm I do know the proper pronunciation. Also Wenlin is great because I can stop, click on a word and learn more about it as well as Wenlin is not too bad with multiple characters that have meaning.
Finally I have started going back looking for lexical chunks I should learn or know.

Flying horses, men that throw lightning from high up in the clouds and women whose heads are covered in snakes — All these things sound a little too crazy and out of the ordinary to be real. And they probably are. But they are all stories from the mythologies of cultures of the past. At one time, many people knew, told and believed in just these kinds of stories.
Myths aren't supposed to describe ordinary things that could actually happen. In fact, they often tell about deliberately unreal and supernatural characters and events.
But myths are stories worth hearing. More than that, they are usually stories that are told to teach very real, important lessons. The word mythology means the set of stories told for years among a large group of people for certain reasons. The myths are told over and over to teach lessons about the culture and religion of that group to its members. One way to learn about the things that the cultures of the past believed or felt were important is to look at the mythologies.
This is a picture of a horse with wings on its back to make it look like one beautiful mytholigical creature: a flying horse named Pegasus. Even though the culture whose mythology Pegasus comes from may be long gone, people all over the world are familiar with Pegasus today.

Tourists say London's transport is tops 觀光客認為倫敦的大眾運輸最佳

Local commuters will disagree, but tourists from overseas think London's public transit system is the best in the world, according to an opinion poll for an Internet travel advice site.
One in four people who responded to the TripAdvisor survey judged London best overall for public transport, ahead of New York (16 percent) and Paris (12 percent). Los Angeles, on the other hand, was at the bottom of the list.
But the same number of people also ranked the British capital the most expensive place to get around. This is not surprising, given that the cash fare for a short subway ride is three pounds (NT$180).
London's black-taxi drivers were meanwhile said to be the best in the world, according to the 2,000 people who responded. New York, Mexico City and Paris were thought to have the world's worst cabs.
“London's public transport services get a lot of bad press, but it seems that the international traveling community think it's the tops all round,” said TripAdvisor spokeswoman Michele Perry.
London's public transit system is notorious among daily users for delays, cancelations and over-crowding, though improvements are promised in preparation for the Olympic Games in 2012.

Damn right we disagree, because it is actually awful, delays, delays, delays, and then there's the tramps.

Sokay, I tried to catch a bus the other day, but because it was father's day, half the drivers took the day off, and so they cancelled half the buses, and got to where I was going late after walking half an hour. (national capital, and Sunday buses are apparently optional - they normal finish at 6:30 in the evening anyway...). grr

Welcome to the Forum. Yes one of the reasons I try to do the Taipei Times bilingual article everyday is to help them stick in my brain. Also it is good to see written Chinese in a more formal grammatical sence.
Where is Jubei? It is in Taiwan about 90 minutes Southwest of Taipei by train. Across the river is Hsinchu (Xinchu) which was Taiwans's first Science Park city. The major semiconductor and other electronis giants of Taiwan are in Hsinchu. The population of Hsinchu/Jubei is about 500,000 and seems like most of the people are very much geeks and nerds but nice. The Taiwan Straits are just to our West and the mountains are just to our East.
It is different from New Hampshire where my home is located but being in Jubei for one year so far has been very pleasant.
