Hi @YuQinCai, @Constance_Fang @Fiona and the ChinesePod team, my question is this: today I read a dialogue that one of them said" 你去打饭吗? 帮我打一份牛肉面” that means "buy "? please give me some help, thanks.
Hi,
Yes, “打饭” means “buy the breakfast/lunch/dinner" and is normally used in oral language.
Also, the following words are very common in daily conversation:
打球 Play the ball
打车 Take the taxi
打牌 Play cards
打了水漂 down the drain
打光棍 stay single
打结 tie
thanks for your help, Merry Christmas!

Is it 打饭 also meaning 打包饭 take away the breakfast/lunch/dinner?
Hi Eddie,
Actually, they are quite different. 打包 is used when you can’t finish the dish you eat in the restaurant, then you ask for 打包.
